Strong values form the foundation of a meaningful life and childhood is the most formative stage for nurturing them. Reinforcing this belief, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, organised an enriching workshop titled “Strong Roots, Strong Foundations, Great Heights,” under the visionary leadership of Principal Mrs Gulshan Kaur. The workshop focussed on empowering educators with practical strategies to instil human values, foster positive behaviour and nurture strong character among young learners.
The workshop was conducted by Ms. Urvashi Bhatia, a Certified Presenter Trainer from Cambridge University, UK, and an IESOL and ToT Certified Trainer associated with CBSE and the National Disaster Management Authority, Government of India.
The session highlighted the pivotal role of teachers in laying strong emotional, social and ethical foundations during the formative years. Ms. Bhatia introduced educators to engaging, age- appropriate strategies for making values an integral part of everyday classroom experiences rather than merely teaching them as concepts.
Drawing inspiration from the educational philosophies of eminent visionaries such as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Rabindranath Tagore and Maria Montessori, the workshop emphasised holistic development, experiential learning and character building. Teachers explored ways to nurture values such as kindness, empathy, respect, honesty, gratitude, responsibility and cooperation through storytelling, hands-on activities, reflection and meaningful interactions.
The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment to making value education a lived experience in the classroom, helping children develop the compassion, confidence and character needed to grow into responsible individuals.
