Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, celebrated National Sports Day with great zeal to mark the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, India’s legendary hockey player. The week-long celebration highlighted the significance of sports and physical fitness in students’ lives.
Throughout the week, students enthusiastically participated in a variety of games such as Tug of Unity, Kho-Kho, Pithu Garam, Obstacle Races, Stapoo and other indigenous games that promoted teamwork, coordination and fun. The celebrations began with a pledge taken by students to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and make fitness an integral part of their daily routine.
Principal Mrs. Gulshan Kaur emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating that “sports play a vital role in the holistic development of every child, nurturing not just physical strength but also discipline, confidence and teamwork.”
The week-long celebration successfully reinforced the importance of outdoor games while encouraging students to stay connected to their cultural roots and embrace an active, healthy lifestyle.
